Precious’ Lee Daniels casts David Oyelowo to play MLK Jr.

“Precious” director Lee Daniels has officially cast his lead character to his civil-rights follow up film entitled “Selma.” David Oyelowo, a British actor who can be seen in “A Raisin in the Sun” and “Red Tails” will play the part of Martin Luther King Jr. Hugh Jackman is slated to play the role of the racist sheriff.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film follows the historic marches that King made in 1965 in Selma, Alabama that re-wrote history. The part for Governor George Wallace still needs to be filled.

I hope he can find the funding for this film. I’m sure it will be a great followup to “Precious”
I had read that he has some financial difficulty in getting “Precious” made and look how fabulous that movie turned out, so I believe that he’ll be able to work something out for this one
