Justin Bieber fights back on his “German” slip-up

There’s no room for mistakes when you are as famous as Justin Bieber.

Because the world is watching, Justin.

Does 16-year-old Justin Bieber know what the word “German” means? Yes, that’s right, the word “German.” Not how to speak German, but the actual word.

During an interview on a New Zealand TV show, the host asked Bieber what his last name means in German (see video below). While we wouldn’t expect Bieber to know this, we did expect him to know what the word German means. Maybe it was the Kiwi accent? But then Bieber looks at the host’s card, and still doesn’t understand the word, saying “We don’t say that in America.”

After the media’s shock at Bieber’s lack of knowledge, the pop sensation responded on his Twitter, yesterday, claiming he thought the host said “Jewman.” (Although that wouldn’t explain why he couldn’t read it on the card.)

The home schooled singer linked to an old interview video where he counts in German to prove his point.

“Guess home schooling is working out. Do your research next time b4 making a lame attempt at hating on a 16 year old,” he tweeted.

You go, Justin.

he showed him german, he still didn’t understand. no biggie, he’s a kid, although I’m shocked he didn’t understand the last time the guy said it, but even showing it to him didn’t register in his brain. hehehe… poor kid is being spun in circles so much he’s forgetting he knows that word!!! ha

Dale, “he’s a kid” is hardly a worthwhile excuse. He’s fucking 16 years old, he should be able to read “What does [insert word here] mean in German?” He claims to count in it, but if he can’t read it, he never knew in the first place.

It must of been one of those times when someone says somthing but you just can’t figure our what they are saying and after a while you get fed up with repeating “pardon” so you just pretend you understood what they said and agree.
Does anyone else get that or is it just me. LOL

will someone please explain what the interveiwer meant

Well the host was speaking with an accent, although he did say it very clearly I thought. Justin was looking directly at him and not at the cards, but it was really weird seeing him trying to figure out what the host was asking. Of course he knows what German is, his last name is German.

Hahaha…dumb kid! How hard is it to understand, “Does your name mean basketball in german?” He even read the cue card…

  • May 6, 2010 | Permalink |

  • May 6, 2010 | Permalink |

Hmm, well, that accent isn’t that hard to understand. And he read the card! Everyone his age knows what German means.

    Stop making excuses for him.
