Steve Carell trades in “The Office” for work at the general store Steve Carell flew from his daytime job on “The Office” so that he can be with his family more often.

“It’s not a negotiating tactic at all,” he claimed not looking for a higher paycheck, “It’s just that I want to spend more time with my kids right now.”
Carell elaborated on his decision in an interview with the National Enquirer per Digital Spy.

Carell announced his decision to leave the show while speaking to the BBC last month.

The “Date Night” actor also said he would like to work at his sister-in-law’s general store in Massachusetts.

There has been no word yet that Carell will also engage in any other typical actor ‘retirement’ activities beyond the general store, i.e. being a shoe cobbler alongside Daniel Day Lewis or growing an Amish beard with Joaquin Phoenix.

“I will be manning the cash register and stocking the shelves as time permits,” Carell claimed.

To date, Carell’s “Date Night” has made $124 million at the worldwide box office.
