James Cameron pitches in to solve Gulf oil mess

Hollywoodnews.com: “Avatar” director James Cameron is pitching in to assist with solving the Gulf oil spill, and no, it doesn’t involve 3D.

Working with Phil Nuytten, head of Nuytco Research who built submarines for Cameron’s 1989 film “The Abyss,” Cameron is working with deep water and oil sector experts as well as Environmental Protection Agency officials in brainstorming solutions to clean up the BP mess.

Nuytten is a diver who conceived the technology used in the company’s Newtsuit and other underwater exploration suits.

At present, BP has come up with a plan to seal off the oil pipe, halting further gushing in the next day.

The AFP broke the story.
