“Sex and the City 2” gets a finger wagging from medical community
Hollywoodnews.com: As “Sex and the City 2” nosedives at the box office, the sequel has been lambasted by breast-cancer survivors.
Vulture.com reports that their bone of contention is with Kim Cattrall’s character Samantha Jones and her unhealthy intake of youth-inducing hormones. Samantha battled with breast cancer in sixth season of the show.
“Most doctors that I know would do everything possible to avoid use of hormone replacement therapy in a woman with a past history of breast cancer,” says Dr. Len Lichtenfeld, deputy chief medical officer for the American Cancer Society.
Elizabeth Cohen, CNN’s senior medical correspondent, advised that the consumption of hormones by breast cancer survivors could “increase the chances of an incurrence.”
