Sony offers chance for city to host an “Other Guys” premiere

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Want to see Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg and director Adam McKay in your city? Thanks to a new online promotion from Sony, you might have a chance.

Ferrell and Wahlberg’s new comedy, “The Other Guys,” will have its world premiere in New York City on Aug. 2, prior to its wide release on Aug. 6. We’re on our way to Hollywood to interview the film’s cast, so stay tuned for exclusive “Other Guys” content.

But that’s just the beginning. The movie will have another premiere — dubbed “The Other Premiere” — and moviegoers can help decide where it will be. Beginning today, moviegoers can go on Facebook at www.facebook.com/otherguysmovie and vote in a poll to decide which Other City will host The Other Premiere. Ferrell and Wahlberg will attend the red carpet event in the winning city on Aug. 5.

The 20 candidate cities are Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Kansas City, Miami, Minneapolis, Nashville, New Orleans, Orlando, Philadelphia, St. Louis, Seattle, Tampa/St. Petersburg, and Washington, DC.

On August 2, Ferrell and Wahlberg will announce the winning city.

“We’ve all had those moments when we’ve had to watch some other guy be the cool guy. But your city can be the cool city,” said McKay. “Get on Facebook and vote, and we’ll bring The Other Premiere to you.”

What are you waiting for? If you live in those cities, log on to Facebook and vote. Will and Mark may see you on the red carpet!
