Sam Worthington attached to intergalactic “Dan Dare” franchise

By Sean O’Connell Sam Worthington — star of the latest “Terminator,” the remade “Clash of the Titans,” and James Cameron’s “Avatar” — continues to be one of the hardest working actors in Hollywood.

This morning at Comic-Con, it was confirmed by Variety that he’s now attached to star in “Dan Dare” for Warner Bros.

Created by Frank Hampson, the Dan Dare character first appeared in the 1950s as the star of his own comic, He’s the chief pilot of the Interplanet Space Fleet. Dare was once described as the British answer to Buck Rogers.

Colin Frewin and Dan Lin will executive produce the new “Dare” film.

Before “Dare,” Worthington will be seen in John Madden’s “The Debt,” with Helen Mirren, and the romantic drama “Last Night,” alongside Keira Knightley.
