Mark Wahlberg confirms interest in “Entourage” movie

By Sean O’Connell While Sony’s new comedy “The Other Guys” was the chief topic during a recent press event for the film, reporters actually managed to sneak in a few questions about upcoming projects from the gathered talents.

Eva Mendes, for instance, discussed her potential involvement in a biopic on legendary opera singer Maria Callas. And Mark Wahlberg commented on a potential “Entourage” film, as the action-comedy star executive produces the hit HBO show.

“We hope to do one,” Wahlberg told Hollywood News. “But we still have another season and a half to go, so they could certainly mess it up!”

In other interviews, Wahlberg explained that the show’s writing staff still needs to determine where the current season of “Entourage” would end and where a movie would begin. Considering the amount of times Adrian Grenier’s character, Vince, flirted with big-screen success, that seems like a natural avenue for a movie to explore.

By all accounts, this new season of “Entourage” is off to a strong start. It will be interesting to see if “Entourage” gets to the silver screen ahead of other popular television shows that have suggested bigger-screen adventures, from “24” to “The Sopranos.”
