Pattinson Wins Big, Harry Potter Shut Out at Teen Choice Awards

By Hanako M. Ricks Vampires completed dominated the 2010 Teen Choice Awards, which were held in Los Angeles on August 8. Twilight and “The Vampire Diaries” both came up with huge wins, especially for current Twilight (and former Harry Potter star) Robert Pattinson, who walked away with two awards – for Choice Summer Movie Star and Choice Movie Star: Drama – for his role in the film Remember Me. He also won two awards with his co-star Kristen Stewart, and the Twilight movies New Moon and Eclipse picked up one award each. Twilight co-stars Taylor Lautner, Kellan Lutz, Ashley Green, and Rachelle Lefevre all picked up awards as well.

The other hot vamp series, the CW’s hit show “The Vampire Diaries”, also won big, collecting seven of the award surfboards.

Unfortunately for Harry Potter fans, the popular franchise did not pick up any of the awards it was nominated for. It has been speculated that as the majority of the Harry Potter fanbase are now out of their teens, having grown up with the series, most of the would-be voters for the franchise probably did not meet the age limit that was required of voters on the site.

The 2010 Teen Choice Awards will be aired August 9 at 8 pm on FOX.
