J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot smooches thriller pitch ‘7 Minutes’

HollywoodNews.com: J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot production label is bulking up its projects.

Abrams’ director on the “Lost” finale, Jack Bender, pitched an idea which he is set to helm entitled “7 Minutes in Heaven.”

Bad Robot is currently looking for a screenwriter to flesh out the idea.

The thriller is based on “a teen makeout game” per the Hollywood Reporter. The paper describes the plot of “Heaven” as:

While plot details are being suppressed, it is known to focus on two teens who go into a closet as part of the titular game and find all their friends dead when they come back out.

Paramount, where Bad Robot is based, will most likely distribute the film. Bender has a directing deal with Abrams’ company. In addition he is directing the next Jack Ryan feature.

Bad Robot is behind the production of “Mission: Impossible 4” which Abrams is producing.

On tap for Abrams to helm is his alien collaboration with Steven Spielberg “Super 8,” followed by the “Star Trek” sequel.

It is astounding , the lack of imagination exhibited by these people. The world is so richly complex and alive with creative surprises, and this is what Abrams and friends come up with. “Thriller”s. Snooze. how about some new visions that contribute some oomph to the creative flow of our world? Is that too much to ask? Apparently, for people like Abrams and Spielberg etc etc, it is.
