It’s about time Kyra won! I enjoy her Emmy competitors but her role in The Closer alone requires so many different facets of personality. She needs to be fierce, angry, sympathetic, funny, headstrong, tender, ruthless, loyal — such a range of character traits. Her character Brenda Leigh is helpless one moment, incredibly competent the next. Then she’s vulnerable and the next moment she’s taking over from everyone. She can show authority and helplessness, rabid determination then self-pity, all at the turn of a dime. I love this fully realized character acted by such a talented actress. We rarely get characters like this. And I can’t imagine anyone able to pull it off but her. Now, we just need the show to win as best drama. The show deserves it.
