Angelina Jolie too busy to fall into ‘Gravity’ Forget about the talent search for Lisbeth Salander in the U.S. remake of “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” – that’s so two weeks ago.

The hot new femme role? Playing the astronaut in Alfonso’s Cuaron’s sci-fi film “Gravity” due out in 2012. But despite the number of actresses who are being considered for the role, the biggest one of them all – Angelina Jolie – has no interest in the project. She’s too busy.

Warner Bros. has apparently made overtures to Sandra Bullock, Natalie Portman, Naomi Watts, Marion Cotillard, Carey Mulligan, Scarlett Johansson, Sienna Miller, Abbie Cornish, Rebecca Hall, Olivia Wilde, and Blake Lively per Deadline and Collider.

This comes as a surprise since it was first reported Johansson and Lively were in a tug of war for the part.

Collider lists the number of productions that Jolie is attached to:

– She is set to write and direct a love story set during the Bosnian War
– A sequel to “Salt”
– A film about the life of Cleopatra
– A remake of the 2009 British miniseries, “Unforgiven”
– Tim Burton’s take on “Sleeping Beauty, Maleficent”
– Darren Aronofsky’s adaptation of Ron Rash’s novel, “Serena”

The lucky lass who lands the role will get to play opposite Robert Downey Jr., who has a small role.

Warner Bros. is eager to cast the right actress as the project is quite risky and in need of a chick who can draw at the box office. Currently, the film is budgeted at $80 million.

The plot of “Gravity” per Collider: “A female astronaut as she attempts to make her way back to earth after a satellite crash sets off a chain reaction of further crashes.”
