Megan Fox ‘Passion Play’ fails to move critics
HollywoodNews.com: After biting the dust in “Jonah Hex” and getting fired from “Transformers 3,” Megan Fox isn’t looking at a string of good luck yet after her film “Passion Play” was panned by critics at the Toronto Film Festival.
In Contention rounds up all the critics’ nails for the Mitch Glazer film. What’s sad is that the director-scribe spent 20 years trying to get “Passion Play” made. For sure, Mickey Rourke won’t be an award hopeful after his turn as a jazz trumpeter in the film.
Contention assesses:
David Poland calls the film “epically bad” and even suggests that the potential for a Megan Fox nude scene was probably the only thing keeping people from walking out. Cinematical and eFilmCritic’s Erik
Childress did just that, however. He couldn’t take it. Meanwhile, at Voice Film, Karina Longworth says “it’s hard to imagine that anyone will take [the film] nearly as seriously as it takes itself.” What can you say? It’s never a happy moment when someone works so hard at something so quickly and summarily dismissed.
In “Passion Play,” Fox plays Lily the “Bird Woman,” a carnival sideshow attraction. Many wonder if she’s an angel or a freak, but she winds up impacting the life of Rourke’s character for the better after he falls for her.
