‘Modern Family’ kicks off the second season tonight

By Greg Hernandez

HollywoodNews.com: It must be so nice to kick off your second season as the reigning Emmy champ!

That’s the case for ABC’s “Modern Family” which has its second season premiere tonight as part of a two-hour comedy block that also includes returning shows “The Middle” and “Cougar Town” as well as the promising new series “Better With You.”

It’s so great, especially with gay marriage such a big issue right now, to have a mainstream family hit that prominently features a gay couple (played by Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Emmy winner Eric Stonestreet). And it helps that they are really funny!

You can catch up on season one episodes on a new DVD set released this week.
