George Clooney now wants Ryan Gosling for ‘North’? As Ryan Gosling gets positioned for award season again for his turn in Weinstein Co.’s “Blue Valentine,” word arrives that George Clooney is in talks with the actor to play the lead role in his film adaptation of political play “Farragut North.”

“North” centers around Stephen Myers, a pr guy who starts working in the dirty world of politics. Clooney is also looking to nab Evan Rachel Wood and Philip Seymour Hoffman for roles as well.

Originally when Clooney announced his interest in the project, he was heavily considering Chris Pine for the film. MTV’s news brought this to Pine’s attention, who was surprised to hear about the buzz. At one point since being optioned in 2004, Leonardo DiCaprio has also been considered for the lead in “North.”

Cameras are expected to role in March 2011.
