Lady Gaga 101 is really a college course Typical courses for a liberal arts college include English, Science, History and Philosophy. However, the time has come to include Lady Gaga in that curriculum.

University of South Carolina is offering its students “Lady Gaga and the Sociology of Fame” next semester.

The course will analyze what makes a person famous and the significance in today’s environment.

The New York Times had the story.

Per the course description: “The central objective is to unravel some of the sociologically relevant dimensions of the fame of Lady GaGa.”

The Sociology Professor Mathieu Deflem is really gaga for Gaga. He has seen the pop singer 28 times live and runs his own fan site dedicated to her.

“I will get the word out to her that I’m doing the course, but it might be logistically too difficult for her to come,” says Deflem.

i think it is genius. The story of her fame is a legendary one and i believe it transcends anything that anyone on this planet has ever seen when on the subject of popularity. It is significant enough to have an entire class about. Hell, it seems significant enough to be studied by neurologists to see why the human brain loves this woman so much. In all honestly, i think this woman will be next to Jesus in terms of popularity. Her name is heard today more than anyone’s on the planet. I wonder if she can fathom how famous she actually is. she is beyond fame.
