NBC kills J.J. Abrams spy series ‘Undercovers’

HollywoodNews.com: The promos this summer looked so sexy. It looked like a version of “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” for the small screen that could actually work.

But audiences decided to blow off the cover on “Undercovers.” The ill-rated spy show from “Alias” wunderkind J.J. Abrams was cancelled by NBC. Last night’s show delivered 5.8 million viewers and a 1.3 adult demo rating.

Per Vulture, “Undercovers” will air three more episodes at some point in the near future.

Vulture points outs, “Undercovers broke the mold by casting two black leads as the show’s main characters.”

NBC earlier this season pulled the plug on Jimmy Smit’s “Outlaw.”
