Awards Season Roundup: Paltrow shows her “Country” roots at CMAs

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: HollywoodNews.com’s Awards Season Roundup collects insights from around the Internet on films that are running in the Oscar race.

Gwyneth Paltrow received a standing ovation last night at the CMAs after performing “Country Strong,” the theme song from her upcoming movie. Among those standing in ovation? Nicole Kidman, wife of Keith Urban.

The Film Independent Spirit Awards will be announced on Nov. 30, by Eva Mendes and Jeremy Renner.

The Oscars, meanwhile, could move up on the calendar … just not any time soon.

As for this year’s race, HitFix assumes “The Social Network” and “The King’s Speech” as frontrunners, then asks which films are strong enough to dethrone them.

Kris Tapley talks “The Town” with Ben Affleck.

Can Ed Harris earn his first Oscar for “The Way Back?”

And finally, am I the last one to learn that “Catch Me If You Can” is going to Broadway?
