Jon Favreau’s ‘Cowboys & Aliens’ stirs writers’ war The writers of Jon Favreau’s upcoming summer action film “Cowboys & Aliens” are having a shoot-out.

Turns out titan scribes Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lidelof are getting their names listed along with Scott Mitchell Rosenberg who authored the graphic novel.

However, the earlier writers on the project want their names listed. The Writers Guild only permits a limited number of names under the scribe credits and eight writers and writing teams have lent their ink to “Cowboys & Aliens” which isn’t unusual for a studio tentpole.

DreamWorks and Universal are double-teaming on the film and are unspooling it next summer.

The Hollywood Reporter had the headlines.
