Henry Cavill tops IMDB StarMeter

Henry Cavill

By Kim Palacios

hollywoodnews.com: His is not a household name. So, how did actor Henry Cavill make it to the top of the IMDB StarMeter? The answer isn’t clear—nonetheless, the “Tristan + Isolde” actor has catapulted forth to number one.

Though the 27 year old actor had no film credits in 2010, he featured prominently as First Duke of Suffolk, Charles Brandon in the Showtime series “The Tudors”. The salacious character’s role built to a tragic crescendo that culminated in his death in the finale of Season 4.

Cavill is currently slated for roles in three films, the most anticipated of which is “Superman: Man of Steel” (2012). Though it is not yet in production, director Zack Snyder of “Watchmen” and “300” fame holds the hope of fans wishing him to revive the superhero to its comic book glory.

In the nearer term, Cavill will star opposite Mickey Rourke as protagonist Theseus in the 2011 film, “Immortals”. Also cast in the film are “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’” John Hurt and “The Twilight Saga’s” Kellan Lutz.

It’s obvious that Henry’s starmeter rose because it was announced he would be playing Superman. Duuuuuuh. And it’s about time given the fact that this man is so gorgeous.

But hopefully the director – Zack Snyder – doesn’t butcher this Marvel comic series like he butchered “Watchmen”. That movie was awful and had a disturbing rape scene which was just in the movie for shock value and nothing else.
