Robert Pattinson, Reese Witherspoon in new “Elephants” trailer tonight

By Sean O’Connell Want to know a smart way to ensure your adaptation of a beloved book does well at the box office?

Sell it to the literary faithful who made the property popular in the first place.

That’s what 20th Century Fox will try and do when it releases the next trailer for its upcoming “Water for Elephants” directly to The clip, which stars Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon in a period romance, will be online today, March 3, at 8 p.m. EST / 5 p.m. PST.

THR reports that this is only “the second time that Amazon has featured a full-length movie trailer on its website” after Warner Bros. posted a tease for Christopher Nolan’s Batman sequel “The Dark Knight.”

How did that movie do at the box office?

“Elephants” is directed by Frances Lawrence. It co-stars Christoph Waltz of “Inglourious Basterds” and “The Green Hornet.” It will be in theaters on April 22.
