“Fast Five” director confirms part six will happen
By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: From the “No duh” department of breaking news comes this: “Fast Five” director Justin Lin says that a sixth installment in the 10-year-old cars-and-crashes franchise is happening.
No duh.
“Fast Five” destroyed the competition at the box office over the weekend, setting a record as the highest-grossing opening weekend in Universal’s history. “After this big weekend, we’re going forward,” Lin said on Monday. “It’s pretty much 100%. It’s going to happen.”
But Lin must have been pretty confident it was going to happen, as he basically included a scene in the “Fast Five” credits that teased where part six will head. (No spoilers here, but if you went to “Fast Five” and didn’t stay through the credits, you might wan tto do some surfing online.)
THR, meanwhile, reveals that Universal has signed Chris Morgan, “the writer of the third, fourth and fifth installments, to a two-year, first-look pact, and he plans to write a Fast Six.”
