Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart’s first kiss bed to be auctioned

Catherine Hardwicke - Red Riding Hood Set

By Kim Palacios For Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, chemistry as “Twilight” co-stars can be traced back to a single bed. It was in director Catherine Hardwicke’s home—on a bed that added to her furnishings—that the pair first kiss and the decision to cast Pattinson as Edward was made.

Hardwicke said on June 10th that she would consider auctioning off that very bed and giving the proceeds to the Step Up Women’s Network if she believed there might be enough demand from fans. She made the announcement after being honored at the Step Up Women’s Network Inspiration Awards.

Among long-time fans, the story of Pattinson’s and Stewart’s instant chemistry during Hardwicke’s home audition is legendary. Stewart had already landed the role of Bella and spent hours at the director’s house reading with dozens of potential Edwards. Pattinson, meanwhile, had not landed a role in months and was considering quitting acting. But, the auditions (and Pattinson’s career) were saved when Hardwicke witnessed their chemistry.
