Darren Aronofsky directing “Hobgoblin” for HBO
By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Darren Aronofsky has been assembling his next project after leaving Hugh Jackman standing at the altar of a planned “Wolverine” sequel.
While reports have linked the Oscar-nominated “Black Swan” director to a gritty retelling of the Noah’s Ark story, a news item has Aronofsky pit-stopping for an HBO pilot on his way to the Biblical tale. THR notes that Aronofsky is “boarding HBO’s high-profile ‘Hobgoblin,’ a period drama written by Michael Chabon (The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay) and his wife, Ayelet Waldman.”
The plot involves con men and magicians who used their collective powers to stop Hitler’s forces during WWII.
The new series no doubt would run on HBO beginning in 2012. Not we’re eager to see who they cast in what sounds like a fascinating project.
