Adrianne Palicki joins The Rock in G.I. Joe sequel

By Sean O’Connell Producers behind the “G.I. Joe” franchise made a major splash when they added Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to the cast of the upcoming sequel. Now more coveted names are joining the ensemble.

Adrianne Palicki, star of “Friday Night Lights” and the failed “Wonder Woman” TV show, will be joining “G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes” to play covert operations specialist Lady Jaye. Deadline, which broke the story, says the “Joe” sequel is being fast-tracked for next summer because a “Star Trek” sequel will not be ready in time.

Jon Cho will direct the production, which also expects to return Ray Park as Snake Eyes and Lee Byung-hun as Storm Shadow. There’s also a role for a Hollywood action icon to play the original G.I. Joe. Rumors say Bruce Willis will get he gig, but Paramnount is still considering names.
