Ellen DeGeneres Saves a Kitten

HollywoodNews.com: Last week, TV show host and comedian, Ellen DeGeneres, rescued a sick kitten she found in an L.A. furniture store, and nursed it back to health.

Ellen noticed that the kitten was dehydrated, hungry, and had flees, and offered to take the animal and pay for it’s medical care, People reports. The 4-week-old kitten was from an abandoned litter of three, and two of the kittens had already died. The star, who has three cats and two dogs, drove the cat to the vet. According to People, “After a vet administered fluids and prescribed antibiotics, DeGeneres took the kitten home and nursed it back to health.”

Ellen asked The Gentle Barn, an animal sanctuary, if they could help find the kitten a home. She named the cat, Ridiculous, and posted a picture of the now happy and healthy kitten, on her Twitter page Saturday.

What do you think about Ellen’s random act of kindness?

I think its great that Ellen rescued this precious life…however I think that she probably has the money and square footage to KEEP the kitten and be its forever home. I struggle financially and I personally in the last 3 months have rescued, gotten medical attention for, & nursed back to health 4 sickly stray kittens…found homes for 3 (2 are going together) and kept one. One kitten had severe trauma to her eye and had to have surgery to have it removed to avoid continued infections and death. THANK GOODNESS for an organization called RED ROVER (redrover.org) who gave us a grant to help with the cost of the surgery and for the donations of the animal loving comminuty here in New Orleans. Lately there is an rash of kittens being thrown from cars here…hopefully Ellen’s example will encourage people to help these animals and treat them with kindness…
