Adam Levine reveals his real problem with ‘American Idol’ Adam Levine and ‘American Idol’ have been having a few problems ever since he became a judge on the rival show ‘The Voice,’ but now Levine is really going after the FOX hit.

The Maroon 5 singer is talking with ‘OUT’ magazine about why he thinks ‘Idol’ isn’t sending the right messages, states E! News.

Levine believes that the show won’t allow contestants to be openly gay: “What’s always pissed me off about ‘Idol’ is wanting to mask that, for that to go unspoken.”

Levine feels like it is unfair and something that sets ‘The Voice’ apart: “You can’t hide basic components of these people’s lives. The fact that ‘The Voice’ didn’t have any qualms about being completely open about it is a great thing.”
